Vehicle Pre-Loss Documentation Checklist (Template)
A free, printable checklist of every piece of pre-loss evidence you should preserve before the insurer's adjuster takes possession of your vehicle. Photos and records gathered in the first 72 hours are the single biggest factor in defending against a low offer.
When to use this template
Immediately after the insurance company tells you the vehicle is a total loss — and ideally before they take possession. The window is short; once the salvage yard has the vehicle, your access to it is limited.
The interactive form below is the same playbook we run for clients — given away free. If you'd rather we just do it (counter-valuation, letters, negotiation), our service is $199 for the valuation report plus $149/hour for research and negotiation, capped at 2 hours. Our clients average $3,260 in additional settlement value, and we only proceed when we believe we can secure at least $1,000 more — no charge upfront, and if we agree to be your appraiser and can't deliver that minimum, you pay nothing.
What this involves, honestly
Photos and records gathered in the first 72 hours are the single biggest factor in defending a low offer. The list below is what we tell every client to capture. It takes about an hour with a phone camera; some items (window sticker, service records) can take longer if they're scattered.
